Research context

This Master's dissertation reviews the UK law enforcement response to cryptocurrency related crime. Being underpinned by evidence-based policing, this research aims to:

  • evaluate perspectives from a spectrum of UK leaders involved in investigating cryptocurrency related crimes
  • provide insights on positive and negative strategies that can encourage the implementation of effective policies with the best information possible
  • identify if there are training gaps and coordination issues among law enforcement when investigating something with international reach

Research methodology

This project involves interviews with officers who have oversight of cryptocurrency related crimes within police forces and other UK law enforcement agencies. The interviews will consist of ten pre-set open-ended questions that should last around 30 minutes. The interviewees will have organisational approval to complete the research. All interviewees will be anonymised within two weeks of completing the interview and not be identifiable within the completed research. Once the transcripts are anonymised, they will be reviewed and comparisons can be drawn to identify themes.

Research participation

Individuals who are interested in the project or who would like to participate are invited to email the researcher.
