Research Context

‚ÄčResearch aim
To identify effective intervention practices for youths and young people at risk of becoming serious violent offenders in order to provide recommendations for Hampshire's violence reduction units.

Objectives

  • Assess and analyse the opinions of Criminal Justice practitioners and Hampshire's Youth Commission team with regards to current intervention practices available for youths, attitudes towards serious violence amongst youths and young people, and effective preventative, diversion aspects

  • Conduct focus groups with the target population to achieve this objective 

  • Use the data collected to make recommendation to the violence reduction unit for future serious violent crime prevention for youths and young people at risk of becoming serious violent offenders.

Research Methodology

‚ÄčThe sample size will be subject to availability, however this study will aim to conduct two focus groups with an average size of twelve participants. The transcripts will be analysed using content analysis.
