This study aims to review a selection of relevant literature which examines the 'school-to-prison pipeline' phenomenon identified in the USA and compare literature which examines the links between school exclusion and youth justice in the UK to identify any trends or similarities between the two contexts.
A judgement sample of literature will be taken including an equal number of articles written and published in the UK and USA (approx. 10 documents). A detailed critical review of the literature followed by a detailed content analysis will be used to answer 3 main research questions. The research questions seek to identify:
