Research Context
The purpose of this PhD will be to explore how academic education's role within police professionalisation has developed in different cultural, social and political contexts. In doing so, it will aim to understand how its role has been shaped by factors such as organisational culture, myths, realities, perceptions and the reconfiguration of professional work.
The study will compare and analyse the Scottish perspective of police professionalisation with that in two other European case study countries.
